by April 6th, 2020

The University of the West Indies, Mona campus, says it has had discussions with Caribbean Airlines to bring home its students studying abroad, however it’s awaiting the decision of various governments regarding the opening of their countries’ ports.

The university’s principal, Professor Dale Webber, notes that there are several Jamaican students studying at the Cave Hill campus in Barbados and at St. Augustine in Trinidad.

Responding to the question of whether the university would intervene to bring the Jamaican students home, Professor Webber says there is very little that the institution can do until the various ports of entry are declared open.

He notes that the university remains in contact with the affected students.

He was speaking at a digital town hall meeting at the weekend.
