Following a crushing win over Zimbabwe yesterday in the one off four day test match South Africa’s next outing will be a three-match test series against the top-ranked side India which bowls off on January 5.

It will be a more difficult task for south Africa as India have won each of their last nine test series, including the one-off test against Bangladesh in February 2017.

Of the nine series wins, two came in Sri Lanka, one in the Caribbean, and six at home.

Yesterday South Africa raced to victory in the inaugural four-day test in Port Elizabeth, taking 16 wickets on day two to win by an innings and 120 runs.  With a result produced in only 907 balls, the match is now the second-shortest test, in terms of balls, in the last 50 years.
