by June 3rd, 2020

Dancehall deejay Spice took to the streets of Atlanta on Tuesday, to join one of the many protests happening across the United States, in a call for justice for George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who was killed on May 25, by a white police officer.

Spice who has been questioned by some social media users for her participation in ‘foreign’ affairs, in a series of posts across her online platforms said, “They asked me why I’m out here, and I reply, because I am a black woman, with a black son and daughter, stop criticizing and get up and fight this fight together we stand. Visa is no use to me if I’m dead.”

Spice further lamented that for those who are saying she is not doing this in Jamaica, she is not on the island, but they are, as she asked “so what are you doing?”

For the past couple of days, Spice has been dedicated to the black lives matter, and justice for George Floyd movements, and has since called out white celebrities to do something, and demand justice for George Floyd.

Spice also curated and shared, a ‘Black Hypocrisy’ playlist on Apple Music with the intent of motivating and inspiring black people during this time. The playlist updated on Tuesday, June 2, features music by Spice, Bob Marley, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and Childish Gambino among others.
