The St. James Municipal Corporation has released ten million dollars in emergency funds, to facilitate clean up operations in sections of the second city, following yesterday’s flood rains.
The flood waters affected homes, businesses, schools, at least one hotel, and damaged roads and other infrastructure.
Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis, along with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and other government officials, toured the affected areas, earlier today (Nov 23).
Mayor Davis says heavy duty equipment has already started clearing the north gully, which was filled with debris and heavy silt.
He says efforts are being made to restore Montego Bay to normal operations, by Sunday.
