St Thomas Fire Damage Assessed

by May 21st, 2015

At least 150 farmers were negatively affected by fires, which devastated sections of St. Thomas recently.

This is the preliminary result of an assessment carried out by representatives of The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), on Monday.

Councillor for the Cedar Valley Division in the St Thomas Parish Council, Marsha Francis, told IRIE FM News that she invited a RADA team to tour the area.

She says the team carried out an initial assessment, a process which continues due to the extent of the fire damage.

Councillor Francis says a number of communities were affected and among the crops lost were coffee and pimento as well as livestock.
