Steven Gayle one of three Jamaicans down to compete at the Boston Indoor Grand Prix

by February 9th, 2018

World relay 4×400 meters bronze medallist Steven Gayle will be one of three Jamaicans down to compete at the Boston Indoor Grand Prix tomorrow.

Gayle will contest the 400 meters alongside the likes of Trinidad’s Machel Cedino and the USA Joseph Lyles.

New national 3000 meters record holder Aisha Praught will contest the women’s 1500 meters while Simoya Campbell will line up in the women’s 800 meters.

Meanwhile world 100 silver medallist sprinter Christian Coleman gets another chance to legally break the 60 meters world record.

Coleman opened his season with an astonishing 6.37-second dash in the 60m at a meeting in Clemson, South Carolina last month, crossing the line 0.02 seconds quicker than countryman Maurice Greene’s 20-year-old world record mark.

However, the performance will not be ratified as a new global record because electronic starting blocks were not used.

The blocks, which measure false starts, are required for record-recognition purposes according to the IAAF.
