Jamaica battled to an exciting 44-44 tie with Caribbean neighbours Barbados in the opening match of the three Test series at the National Arena on Friday.
Debutant Shimona Nelson led the scoring for the inexperienced Sunshine Girls with 31 goals from 39 attempts.
She was supported by Hasana Williams who converted 13 from 15 attempts.
Jamaica eked out a slim 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter while the Bajans moved ahead 26-22 at half-time and held on for a 35-24 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The Sunshine Girls however rallied to outscore the Bajans 10-9 in the final quarter.
