Sunshine girls roll past Zimbabwe and into 5th place playoff at INF Netball World Cup

The Sunshine Girls turned in a disciplined performance on Friday and rolled past Zimbabwe 77-47 to book a spot in the fifth place playoff at the INF Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England.

Romelda Aiken netted 27 goals from 35 attempts, Shanice Beckford sank 18 goals from 21 tries, to help the girls secure a meeting with Malawai on Sunday. In the meantime Rebekah Robinson who came off the bench scored 16 of 21 and captain Jhaneile Fowler again finished with a 100 percent goal average after finishing with a perfect 14 goals from 14 attempts after playing only the first quarter.

Exercising patience and precision in their passing at both ends of the court and displaying astute defending in all four quarters, the Sunshine girls were able to limit the turnovers to 17 in this match, compared to an average of 21 in their previous six games.

Although a little too late Head Coach Marvette Anderson spoke to the discipline of her players today and reassured that despite some slight physical niggles, the girls will be good enough for Sunday.

Malawi secured the meeting with Jamaica after finish third group F’ with a 55-44 win over Uganda today.
Meanwhile The finalist will be decided on Saturday when defending champions Australia face South Africa, and Hosts England battles New Zealand .
