Sunshine Girls up to third on INF Rankings

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls will end the year as one of the top three teams in the world after moving up a spot to third on the INF World Rankings.

The latest edition reflects matches played up until December 2 and now include the Sunshine Series – where Jamaica blanked England 3-0 – the 2019 Netball World Cup Qualifiers in Africa, the Americas and Asia, the autumn Quad Series (between Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand), Canada vs Cayman Islands Test Series and the recent England vs Uganda series.

The Jamaicans, who occupy the number 3 spot on 172 rating points, are a point behind second ranked New Zealand.

Australia leads the way on 211.

England who were previously ranked third, fell to 4th on the rankings after the series whitewash at the hands of the Sunshine Girls while South Africa rounds out the top 5.

Uganda’s performance in the Africa Qualifiers have moved them closer to 6th placed Malawi while Sri Lanka have moved up 7 places, now 19th, to second in the Asia Region.

The top 10 is completed by Malawa, Uganda, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Trinidad and Tobago.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (23rd), United States (33rd), Thailand (34th) and Argentina (39th) have re-entered the rankings having played the requisite number of games in the period.

A number of teams move down the rankings as a result including Botswana (24th) Singapore (25th) Canada (26th) Malaysia (27th) Hong Kong (28th) Namibia (32nd) St Maarten (35th) Chinese Taipei (36th) Israel (37th) and Switzerland (38th).
