Suspect held in relation to the murder of a Papine high student

Police have taken a suspect into custody in relation to the shooting death of a Papine High School student in Liguanea, this morning (Mar.23).

 

The student’s identity has not yet been released by the police.

 

Head of the St. Andrew Central police, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, says the shooting incident occurred around 11: 20 AM.

 

The teen was reportedly walking along Liguanea Avenue when he was approached by a man who grabbed his cellular phone. A tussle ensued and the man pulled a gun, shot the teen, and then escaped, with the mobile phone.

 

The student was taken to the hospital, where he died while being treated.

 

The suspect was later held. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
