Jamaica’s global batting star Chris Gayle has pulled out of the 2020 edition of the Lanka Premier League.
Reports earlier this week indicated that Gayle self-proclaimed Universe Boss who was signed by the Kandy Tuskers for the 2020 season was still negotiating the terms of his contract with the Tuskers, and that his arrival in Sri Lanka has already been delayed once, however Gayle who scored 288 runs in the recently concluded IPL despite playing only seven matches, has cited injury as the reason for his decision not to participate.
The explosive batsman cracked three half centuries including a top score of 99 against the Rajasthan Royals on October 30 and averaged 41.44.
Last month, Andre Russell, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, withdrew from the LPL also citing injury.
He is now reported to be scheduled to arrive for the tournament this week.
The first match of the 2020 LPL is set for November 26.
