TAJ preparing for last minute rush of payments under traffic ticket amnesty

With approximately one month left in the traffic ticket amnesty, Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) says measures will be put in place, to facilitate last minute payers.

The traffic ticket amnesty began on August 2, and will end on October 31.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer at the TAJ Meris Haughton says several tax offices will be opened this Saturday, to facilitate persons wishing to take advantage of the amnesty.

She says the move is to accommodate the increase in persons transacting business.

Ms. Haughton says locations such as Constant Spring, Mandeville and Spanish Town, will be open, this weekend.

Meanwhile, Ms. Haughton says, the administration has collected $70 m in outstanding traffic fines, since the start of the traffic ticket amnesty.
