Tanya Stephens and PopCaan have joined the many fans across social media reacting after actor Will Smith smacked Chris Rock in the face after the comedian made a joke about his wife’s hair.

The incident occurred after Rock, who was introducing the award for Best Documentary, made a joke about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, “Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya.”

53-year-old Will Smith laughed from his seat while 50-year-old-year-old Jada Pinkett Smith pulled an unimpressed expression. Will Smith, who is up for Best Actor at the ceremony, then took the stage and smacked 57-year-old Chris Rock across the face.

On Twitter, PopCaan tweeted Sunday, “Me convince now say Will Smith mad.” Using a colourful Jamaican curse word the Unruly Boss continued, “A whey the – a gwaan?”

Meanwhile, Tanya Stephens on Instagram shared a repost from comedian Amanda Seales who stated that some people do not deserve comedy.

Tanya Stephens in the caption wrote, “Thought I was the only crazy person. She continued, “We are normalizing/encouraging/excusing some really strange things these days. Assault in response to a joke at an event which boasts hosts doing roasts… carry on.”

While Smith’s actions have been widely condemned on social media, with many arguing he should be charged with assault, his 23-year-old son, Jaden Smith, shared a tweet shortly after the incident, which said: “And That’s How We Do It.

“After the incident, the Academy tweeted a short statement stating they do not “condone violence of any form.”

Shortly after the incident, Will Smith apologized to his fellow nominees and the Academy while accepting his best actor award for “King Richard.”

Meanwhile, the LAPD says Chris Rock has declined to file a police report.

In 2018, Jada Pinkett Smith, who suffers from autoimmune disorder alopecia, opened up about her issues with hair loss during an episode of her show Red Table Talk, explaining, “It was terrifying when it first started.”
