Taylor slams century to lead Jamaica to 2nd Super50 win

Jamaica’s women’s cricketers, led by a match-winning all-round performance by captain Stafanie Taylor, preserved their unbeaten status at the 2019 Cricket West Indies/Colonial Medical Insurance Women’s Super50 which is being held in Guyana.

Their latest outing on Tuesday saw them beating home team Guyana by 6 wickets to record a second win from as many games.

Taylor bagged 3 for 44 while Alecia Bookal took 2 for 32 as Guyana batting first made a competitive 249 all out in 49.5 overs.

Shemaine Cambpelle was the chief run-getter slamming 111 while Tremaine Smartt added 58.

Taylor, later named Player of the Match, then returned to hit a match defining 119 to guide Jamaica to victory at 244 for 4.

Rashada Williams, who supported with 47, was the other major contributor with the bat for the Jamaicans who next return to action on Thursday against Barbados.

In the match at Providence, half centuries by Windies all-rounder Deandra Dottin and Windies opener Hayley Mathews propelled Barbados to a big 241 runs win over the Windward Islands.

Dottin smashed 94 off just 49 balls while Mathews blasted 91 to guide the Bajans to 334 for 3.

The Windwards in reply made 93 for 9 with Afy Fletcher retiring hurt while on 24.

Action at GCC saw Trinidad and Tobago coasting to a 6 wickets win against the Leeward Islands.

Final scores: Leewards 77 all out, T&T 79 for 4.

Third round action takes place on Thursday.
