Delegates of the Jamaica Teachers Association today (June 20) voted to reject the government’s offer of a 7% increase in the basic salary.
Delegates today met at Jamaica College to vote on the new wage offer.
The teachers along with other government workers had rejected a 5% increase on their basic salary.
They were then offered a 7% increase, with upward movements in some allowances.
The delegates expressed that the 7% is subjected taxes and will amount to nothing.
The teachers are holding out for a better wage offer.
