by November 12th, 2017

The St. Mary police have launched a probe into the death of a teenaged boy at the St. Mary Country Club this morning (Nov 12).

The police are withholding the 13 year old child’s identity.

The boy, who is from Westmoreland, was spending the weekend with his mother and step father in St. Mary.

Head of the division, Superintendent Dudley Scott told Irie FM News that initial investigations reveal that the boy was found inside a room, with a gunshot wound, about 8:45 a.m.

He says the parents were at home at the time of the incident. It’s not yet clear how the child was shot.

The step father is a licensed firearm holder, and owns a handgun.

Superintendent Scott says the police chaplaincy unit is offering counselling support to the boy’s family.
