by January 9th, 2020

40 year old Tesha Miller has been sentenced to 38 years and 9 months in prison for being an accessory to murder.

The sentence was imposed by Justice Georgiana Fraser.

Miller was convicted last month by a seven member jury in the Home Circuit Court on charges of accessory before and after the fact to the 2008 murder of JUTC Chairman Douglas Chambers.

Justice Fraser sentenced Miller to 38 years and 9 months for accessory before the fact to murder and 18 months for accessory after the fact to murder.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

Attorney at law Bert Samuels had pleaded for leniency for Miller, after two character witnesses testified on his behalf.

Mr. Samuels had asked for his client to be given the minimum sentence.

Chambers was gunned down near the gate of the JUTC depot in Spanish Town on June 27, 2008.

The main witness for the prosecution who was a former member of the Clansman gang, testified that it was Miller who gave the order for Chambers to be killed.

Meantime, Tesha Miller’s attorney Bert Samuels says his client will be challenging the judge’s sentence.

This, as Mr. Samuels believes the sentence handed down by Justice Georgiana Fraser was excessive.

Furthermore, he says there are over a dozen grounds on which to appeal the initial conviction.
