The work to replace the synthetic stadium east running track in Kingston underway

The work to replace the synthetic stadium east running track in Kingston has begun.

The track is being replaced at a cost of $71.5 million and is being executed by German entity, BSW Regupol who also laid the current track at the national stadium.

General Manager of independence park limited major general brown outlined that the push is to complete the work in approximately six weeks.

The track which host development meets is also a training facility for several national athletes, but Brown added that the training programme of the national athletes who use the venue will not be affected.

Meanwhile minister of sports Olivia Grange announced last week that the government is also advancing its effort for the redevelopment of the national stadium and the Trelawny stadium
