Police have taken three men into custody, in connection with the seizure of 250 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $1.75 million.
The men were held about 2:45 PM during a police operation along the Manchioneal main road yesterday (Feb.17).
Police were searching for firearms and illegal drugs.
Head of the Portland police, Superintendent Kenneth Chin, says the men were aboard a truck when it was stopped by the police and searched.
He says close to 8,000 pounds of marijuana has been seized over the past 10 months.
He is appealing to members of the public to assist the police in making Portland the safest parish.
