Three persons charged following fight during protest over bad roads in Westmoreland

Three persons were charged after a fight broke out during a protest over poor road conditions in Darliston, Westmoreland yesterday (May 16).

 

Their identities have not yet been released.

 

It’s reported that during the protest, sections of the road to Darliston were blocked.

 

However, some residents were against the blocking of the roadways and an altercation developed.

 

Acting Head of the Westmoreland police, Senior Superintendent Wayne Joseph told IRIE FM news that an off duty police officer fired several warning shots, which broke up the fight.

SSP Joseph said the police stand ready to respond if the protest continues today.
