TODSS calls on Govt to fix issues affecting PPV operators

by August 31st, 2019

The President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Service (TODSS) has called on the government to quickly rectify several problems that plague the public transport sector.

Egeton Newman said these issues create an undue burden on taxi operators who are already faced with challenges due to the lack of a fare increase.

The taxi grouping has again called for a fare increase, failing which operators have threatened to withdraw their services come next Monday, the start of the new school year.

Newman lamented that the Special Consumption Tax is too high, and called for a reduction.

He also noted the deplorable condition of transport centres / bus parks which are in need of renovations.

Newman said a national transport policy is needed.

He wants the government to address these issues as soon as possible.
