Tough opening day for Jamaica’s Jazmine Fenlator- Victorian and Carrie Russell at Winter Olympics

Jamaica’s Women’s bobsleigh team of driver Jazmine Fenlator- Victorian   and  Carrie  Russell had a tough opening after finishing 17th and 19th in their opening two heats in the 20 team field as they began their historical quest at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang south Korea today.

Fenaltor- Victorian and Russell the first set of females to represent Jamaica at the winter games coming thirty years after the country made its debut in Calgary, registered a run of 51.29 in heat 1 despite getting off to the 10th best start.

They finished 17th in the heat behind the United States who came out on top in 50.52.

In heat 2 the team was not only a little slower away but had a much less impressive run after posting 52.55 for 19th place behind Germany who took the heat in 50.72.

The Jamaican pair finished with a cumulative score of 1 minute 42.79 seconds and are already virtually out of the running for a top finish with two rounds to go.

Come tomorrow the Jamaicans will slide in heats 3 at 6:40 a.m and heat 4 at 8 am Jamaica time.
