The Tourism Ministry says the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC‘s decision, to elevate the travel notice for Jamaica to Level 3 is not surprising.
The notice has increased from Level 2.
The level 3 travel notice for Jamaica warns United States’ citizens against travel to the island, due to high risk of Covid-19.
Senior Strategist in the Tourism Ministry, Delano Seiveright says the move is not surprising, given the rapid spread of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus.
He says Jamaica is in a much better position than some other Caribbean countries which the CDC says, are at a very high risk level.
He is hopeful that the situation will improve in the coming weeks.
