by November 27th, 2019

The Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) spent some $50 m within a 2 month period to remove bulky waste in the resort towns in St. James and St. Ann, in an effort to eradicate mosquito breeding sites.

This was revealed by executive director of the TPDCo, Dr. Andrew Spencer, during this morning’s sitting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC).

He said the programme was executed by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) to eradicate the possible threat of a dengue outbreak on the tourism industry.

When asked by PAAC Chairman, Dr. Wykeham McNiell why St. James and St. Ann were given priority, Dr. Spencer explained that the situation in those areas was chronic.
