by January 5th, 2018

Mayor of Falmouth Colin Gager, says teams from the Trelawny Municipal Corporation and the Labour Ministry, are collecting data, about residents affected by yesterday’s flood rains.

Among the areas affected are Duncans, Clarkes Town, and Long Pond.

They also visited the relatives of an elderly woman, who was washed away by flood waters, yesterday.

Mayor Gager says the report generated by the municipality’s team, will be sent to the Local Government Ministry, in order to get funds to begin repair works to affected parochial roads and drains.

He adds that residents, who were marooned in some communities yesterday, are now able to move about as the flood waters have receded.

Meantime, the Trelawny Police have released the identity of the woman who was washed away by flood waters, yesterday (Jan 4).

Dead is 61 year old Elizabeth Thompson, of Barnstable.

Thompson is said to have been of unsound mind.

Reports are that about 2:00 p.m. yesterday, Thompson was attempting to cross a flooded roadway, when she was swept away by the rushing water.

Head of the Trelawny police, Superintendent Dwight Powell is again urging residents not to attempt crossing flooded roadways.

This in light of inclement weather conditions which continue to affect sections of the island.
