Trinidad to host 2018 Concacaf Women’s Football Championship

The regional governing body of football (Concacaf) today confirmed that Trinidad & Tobago will host the 2018 Concacaf women’s under-20 championship next year.

The tournament will run from January 18 – 28 and all sixteen games on the schedule will be played at the Ato Boldon stadium.

The draw for the event will be held on November 7 in Port of Spain.

The participating teams include host Trinidad and Tobago, two additional Caribbean teams from the Caribbean women’s under-20 qualifiers to be played next month, in addition to Canada, Mexico and United States, as well as Nicaragua and Costa Rica the two top finishers from the 2017 Concacaf Central America women’s under-20 qualifier played earlier this year.

The tournament which will crown the regional champion at this age level will also qualify three teams to the FIFA under-20 women’s World Cup to be played in France in 2018.

In the meantime, the finals of the Concacaf Caribbean Women’s under-20 qualifiers which include Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Haiti and the Dominican Republic will take place at warner park stadium in St. Kitts and Nevis, from November 22 to 26.
