Truckload of chicken stolen

The St. Catherine south police are moving assiduously in carrying out investigations, following the theft of a truckload of chicken from the Jamaica Broilers compound in St. Catherine, on Tuesday.

 

The police says so far no suspect has been taken into custody, but efforts are in place to nab those responsible.

 

Reports are that about 2:45 a.m. hoodlums gained entry to the compound located at Spring Village district, near Old Harbour.

 

A white freightliner freezer body truck, laden with 300 bags of chicken was driven away by the criminals.

 

The vehicle was eventually tracked and found abandoned about 7:00 a.m. at Amity Hall, near Old Harbour.

 

The police were called and checks revealed that 80 bags of chicken were left behind.

 

The estimated value of the stolen poultry is yet to be ascertained.
