Two staff members of the Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in Runaway Bay, St Ann, were injured on Wednesday morning following an explosion at the hotel.

It’s reported that the workers were injured when there was an accident at one of the hotels’ restaurants.

However, a source from the police says the injuries do not appear to be serious.

Director of internal organization and corporate social responsibility at the hotel, Fabian Brown, told Irie Fm news that the incident took place around 4:45 am.

He said while investigations take place to identify the cause of the explosion, full operations continue at the hotel.

He said the restaurant where the accident took place will also be in operation by this evening.

He said the incident happened during cleaning up hours so no guest was impacted.
