Two killed in separate accidents

One man is dead while another is hospitalised in critical condition following separate accidents in the parish between yesterday and today (July 23).

Dead is 57 year old Clive McKenzie of Steer Town.

DSP Richard Hylton of the St. Ann police division says McKenzie succumbed to injuries he received after a 2 vehicle collision along the Ocho Rios main road, in the vicinity of the Reynolds Pier, this morning.

The other accident occurred in discovery bay yesterday afternoon.

Reports are that a motorcyclist collided into a motor car, near the turn off to the lakeside community.

The cyclist, who is from Kingston, was taken to hospital by police officers.

Further reports are that the biker remains in an unconscious state at hospital.

DSP Hylton says the driver of the motor car that the cyclist hit, has given a statement to the police.

The car driver was questioned and also warned for prosecution.

Meantime, fifty-six-year-old Joan Robinson of Oxford District, Brompton in St. Elizabeth died after she was mowed down by a motor car at her home today.

Reports from the Black River police are that about 7:15 a.m., the driver of a Toyota Corolla motorcar was traveling along the Oxford main road when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

The motor vehicle reportedly crashed into a utility pole, veered off the road and ended up in Ms. Robinson’s yard.

Robinson, who was outside sweeping, was hit by the motorcar and sustained multiple injuries.

She was rushed to hospital where she later died.

The male driver has since been taken into police custody in relation to the incident.

Investigations continue.
