Two men dead; toddler among four others wounded in Norwood gun attack

Two men are dead, and a toddler is among four others left wounded following an attack by gunmen in Norwood, St. James last evening.

 

The deceased are 31-year-old shopkeeper Delano Christie and 26-year-old Jordaine Brown, both of Norwood, St. James.

 

Preliminary reports from the police are that about 8: 15 PM, Christie and Brown were among a group of people playing Ludo at a shop on Hacca Street.

 

They were pounced upon by armed men who opened fire hitting six people.

 

The police were summoned, and the wounded were taken to hospital, where Brown and Christie were pronounced dead and the others admitted for treatment.

 

The incident came a day after the government imposed a state of emergency across St. James.

 

The parish has recorded a 35% increase in murders this year, with 181 people murdered as of November 5.
