Tournament hosts Jamaica have laid down yet another marker in the Windies Women’s Championship T20 Blast after strolling to a seven-wicket triumph over the Leeward Islands to record a third win in as many games.
The Leewards batting first at Kensington Park were dismissed for 68 with Vanessa Vatts bagging 5 wickets while giving up just 9 runs.
She was assisted by vice-captain Chadean Nation who had returns of 3 wickets for 15 runs.
The Jamaicans at their turn to bat, and needing 69 runs to win, made 70 for 3 in 12 overs.
Nation was the top batter with 28 while skipper Stafanie Taylor made 19.
Final scores the Leewards 68, Jamaica 70 for 3.
Thursday’s result follows similar 8 wicket wins in their previous two outings against Guyana and the Windward Islands.
The Jamaicans go in search of a 4th straight win when they face defending champions Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday.
