24 Jamaican students, who were travelling by bus from Lviv, in Ukraine to Poland are now making the journey on foot.

The students are fleeing to the Polish border, as Russia presses its military assault on Ukraine. The Jamaican Government has secured entry for the students to Poland.

In an update this morning (February 27), Foreign Affairs Minister, Kamina Johnson Smith explains that despite making arrangements for the students to travel via bus from Lviv to Poland,

circumstances on the ground have forced the students to walk.

Noting that the journey to Poland is 20 kilometres – that’s over 12 miles – Mrs. Johnson Smith notes that the students will be walking for hours.
