by March 1st, 2022

The Foreign Affairs Ministry says it has booked flights for some 24 Jamaican students who fled war-torn Ukraine.

The students are in Poland.

In an update last night (February 28), Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith said flights have been booked for them to return to Jamaica.

She added that counselling will be provided for the students when they return.

She said the other students who were left in Ukraine and the other who was in Romania are safe.

Noting that the students have expressed concern about their studies which have been disrupted, Senator Johnson Smith said the Ministry will be checking to see if other institutions will be willing to accommodate them.
