UPDATE: Grief counselling for William Knibb High students following stabbing death of 16-year-boy yesterday

Students at the William Knibb Memorial High School in Trelawny are to receive grief counselling from the school’s Guidance Department and the Ministry of Education today (March 22).

 

This following the stabbing death of a 16-year-old male student by another at the institution yesterday.

Dead is Khamal Hall.

 

Reports are that at about 11 am, a dispute developed between hall and another boy, who stabbed him in the chest.

 

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

 

The accused student has been taken into police custody.

 

The Trelawny police are expected to meet with students at the institution today.

 

Acting Principal of the school, Mrs. Audrey Steele told IRIE FM news that each class will receive support from the Guidance Department and the Ministry.

 

Meanwhile, in condemning the incident, Education Minister Fayval Williams said support teams have been dispatched to the school.

She noted that Principals at schools across the island have been reporting that students seem to be more aggressive than before the pandemic.

 

Mrs. Williams said her Ministry is committed to allocating more resources to assist where necessary.
