UPDATE: Man shot dead by police in Waterhouse, St Andrew last evening identified

The police have identified the man who was killed by lawmen, after he engaged them in an alleged confrontation in Waterhouse St Andrew, last evening (July 6).

 

Dead is 31-year-old Sheldon Grant of Flamstead District in Gordon Town St Andrew.

 

Three others were also wounded.

 

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has since launched a probe into the fatal shooting.

 

Speaking with IRIE FM news, Head of the St. Andrew South Division, Senior Superintendent Kirk Ricketts said sometime before 7 PM, armed men got into a confrontation, in which two men were shot and wounded.

 

SSP Ricketts noted that lawmen who were close by responded to the scene, where the gunmen engaged them in a shootout.

 

He explained that one of the gunmen was wounded, while another was fatally shot by the police.
