by February 25th, 2018

Triple world record holder Usain Bolt, in a move that has set the world of sports on high alert, says he has agreed to sign for a football club.

Bolt, who brought his career to an end following the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, has frequently talked up his footballing prowess and revealed last month he was set for a trial with Borussia Dortmund in March.

“It’s something that I want to do,” Bolt told the Daily Express in January. “In March we’re going to do a trials with Dortmund and that will determine what I do with that career, which way it goes. If they say I’m good, and that I need a bit of training, I’ll do it.

The 31 year old has always spoken of his desire to play football once his sprinting career was over, and on Sunday he tweeted to say “I’ve signed for a football team! Find out which one this Tuesday at 8am GMT.”

Bolt, a lifelong Manchester United fan, has also repeatedly expressed an interest in turning out for the many times English Premier League champions and also recently offered his services to David Beckham’s new Major League Soccer franchise, Futbol Miami.

He also trained with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns last month.
