Usain Bolt clocks 9.95 seconds to win men’s 100 metres in Monaco Diamond League

Sprint legend Usain Bolt signaled his readiness for the IAAF World Championship in London next month after winning the men’s 100 meters at the Monaco Diamond League meeting this afternoon.

Bolt dipped under 10 seconds for the first time this season as he won the event in a season best 9.95 seconds, to hold off a fast closing Isaiah young of the USA who clocked 9.98 seconds, while South African Akani Simbine was third in 10.02 seconds.

Meanwhile Olympic champion Danielle Williams finished third in the women’s 100 meters hurdles in a respectable 12. 58 seconds. USA’s Kendra Harrison won the event in 12.51 seconds, while her compatriot Shericka Nelvis was second in a season best 12.52 seconds.

Earlier Commonwealth Games mile relay gold medalist Jamaican Jeneive Russell was a third place finisher in the women’s 400 meters hurdles.

Russell clocked 54.38 seconds, while another Jamaican in Leah Nugent finished last in 58.07 seconds, the event was won by Kori cater of the USA in 53.36 seconds.
