Retired track and field legend Usain Bolt made another trek into the history books today when he played professional football for the first time.
This after making a 20 minute cameo in a pre-season trial match for Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners against a Central Coast Select team.
The eight-time Olympic champion after starting the game as a substitute, received an ovation after stepping unto the pitch in the 71st minute.

He wore the number 95 on the back of his jersey, presumably in reference to 9.58 – his record time as the fastest man on the planet.
The Mariners, despite Bolt failing to hit the back of the net, went on to seal a commanding win 6-1 in front of a crowd of 9958 after only averaging 7000 fans last season.
At the end of the victory a sweat-soaked Bolt walked off the field to speak to the media.
“It was good, the crowd gave me a good ovation and I appreciate that,” he said. “I wish I had more touches but I’m not fit yet so I’ve just got to put in the work and get up to speed. I’m looking forward to a great season.”
Bolt said his fitness improved over the last two weeks on the Central
“In four months I’ll be playing like one of the guys,” he said.
