Usain Bolt makes debut for Norwegian side wearing No 9.58

by June 6th, 2018

Triple-sprint world record holder Usain Bolt made his debut on Tuesday for Norwegian team Stromsgodset in a friendly against the Norway under 19 team.

Bolt, who came on as a second half substitute with his side trailing 1-0, wore the number 9.58 – a reference to his 100 metre world record set in 2009.

The 31 year old during his 20 minute cameo was given the best chance of the game to equalise but failed to connect with a cross into the area and spurned Stromsgodset’s best opportunity to get a draw.

The game ended in a 1-0 win for the Norway U19 team.

Bolt will now turn his attention to this weekend’s Soccer Aid charity match at Old Trafford in Manchester where he will captain a World XI team that includes the likes of Yaya Toure, Eric Cantona, Clarence Seedorf, Robert Pires, Jaap Stam, Edwin Van Der Saar and Patrick Kluivert.

The match takes place on Sunday.

Team England will be led by Take That lead singer Robbie Williams and consists of former players like Michael Owens, Phil Neville, Danny Murphy, Jamie Redknapp, Robbie Fowler, David Seaman and Wes Brown.
