He says the sessions will be conducted by police.

Following the shooting death of 22-year-old student, Shanique Walters while on her way home last week, The Vice President says discussions are underway involving university stakeholders about students who have to travel to nearby communities.

He highlights that short term and long term plans are being drafted to ensure that the safety of students is high priority.

Mr Wheeler says one of the short term plans is the institution of a shuttle system, which will transport students residing in the Papine, Tavern, Mona Heights and Hope Pastures area.

He says the university is still grieving the loss of a fellow member and is working to ensure that users of the university are kept safe.
