Lane restriction along Spanish Town Road – NWA

by April 5th, 2018

Motorists travelling eastbound along Spanish Town Road are being advised that there is a lane restriction at the intersection of Spanish Town Road and Diamond Avenue in the vicinity of Toyota Jamaica.

The National Works Agency is imploring motorists to reduce their speed when approaching the area.

Works are  being undertaken to replace a failed pipe culvert in the extreme left lane of the carriageway.

The area has been cordoned off and excavated to facilitate the works and as such the use of both the extreme left lane and a section of the middle lane have been restricted.

The NWA is advising the travelling public that the roadway has not collapsed and it is safe to traverse the section of the impacted roadway using the extreme right lane.

The agency says photographs being circulated on social media suggesting that the section of road has collapsed are false.

The NWA is  undertaking works valued at $10 m to repair the failed pipe culvert at the diamond road intersection as well as reinstate the left lane along the Westbound carriageway of in the vicinity of the Riverton community.

Motorists are not able to use sections of the right lane, which is continuously affected by flooding and is heavily rutted.
