Veteran dancer Labba Labba has died

Veteran dancer, Labba Labba has died at the age of 75.

Music News understands that Labba Labba died at his home in Kingston on Sunday.

Dancers Orville Hall, of Dance Xpressionz, and Shelly Belly have posted messages on Instagram highlighting Labba Labba’s contribution to the entertainment industry.

According to Orville, Labba Labba made his last public appearance when he called him out during a Reggae Month Celebration at the Emancipation Park in February 2020. In the caption of the video which shows Orville and Labba Labba dancing, the artistic director for Theatre Xpressionz wrote, “He would come to visit me at my studio regularly. I speak about him on my journey around the world. The elder statesman, one of the architects of our rich dancehall dance history. He is Labba Labba. R.I.P you are now an ancestor. We will celebrate your life.”

Meanwhile, Shell Belly in his caption of a 10-second video of him and Labba Labba wrote, “R.I.P #LabbaLabba mi fam ur memories live on, u were a great man.”

Labba Labba was often mentioned in songs by the artists in recognition for his dance moves. He has worked with the late dancer, Gerald ‘Bogle’ Levy, along with the likes of Beenie Man, and Elephant Man.
