Veteran sprinter Kim Collins has officially retired !

Veteran sprinter Kim Collins has officially retired from track and field.

The 41 year old who hails from St Kitts made the announcement today at the World Championship in Birmingham, after advancing to the semi-final of the men’s 60 meters event, finishing third his heat in 6.77 seconds.

Collins the 2003 IAAF World Championship 100 meters gold medalist competed in Birmingham when the city first hosted the world indoors back in 2003, winning silver with 6.53 seconds, slower than his career best time of 6.47 set in 2015.

Has also won silver in the World Indoors in Valencia, Spain in 2008 and finished eighth in Portland Oregon two years ago.

Collins, who has professional career dates back to 1995 has run in five Olympic Games says he still  feels young but it is time to say goodbye” after these championships.

The commonwealth and Central American and the Caribbean Games gold medalist Collins,  added that he is going out in peace and there will be no comebacks, and explained that he is happy to have competed professional for so many years.
