Veteran urges youth to join JDF

by November 11th, 2017

As the nation honours its veteran soldiers in National Remembrance services across the island, one ex-serviceman is appealing for more young people to join the Jamaica Defence Force, so that they can avoid a life of crime.

75 year old Wilbert Taylor served in the JDF for over 30 years, and is a resident of the Curphey Home, in Manchester.

Mr. Taylor says crime and the abuse of children, make him very distressed.

Emphasizing the social stability that the JDF provides, the elderly veteran says more young people should seek careers in the force.

He notes the beneficial increase in discipline, which will help in moving the country forward.

Meantime, the ex-serviceman has high praises for the staff at the Curphey Home, who cater to persons who served in the JDF.

Remembrance Day services will be held at the National Heroes Park, and in all parish capitals tomorrow (Nov 12).

Two minutes of silence will be observed in memory of servicemen and women who died on the battlefield.
