A virtual Wake commemorating the life and legacy of the late Barry O’Hare is currently underway.

Sean Paul, Tanya Stephens, and Gramps Morgan are among the industry players expected to pay tribute to the renowned engineer, producer, and musician.

Barry O’Hare’s widow Janice tells with Music News that in keeping with COVID-19 social distancing protocols, a link was made available via Barry’s Facebook page for individuals who wish to pay their respects.

The proceedings that is streamed live via stream iriefm.net, began at 4:30 pm and is being guided by IRIE FM’s Ainsworth “Big A” Higgins and Entertainment and Cultural Consultant, Clyde McKenzie.

Barry O’Hare honed his talent as an engineer and a producer at Grove Recording Studio, a subsidiary of IRIE FM. He also extended his skills as a Deejay on the station.

Barry O’Hare died at the University Hospital of the West Indies, in St Andrew on September 19 after being tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 56-year-old helped to produced Third World’s 1992 album, ‘Committed,’ and was an engineer for Burning Spear’s Grammy-winning album, Calling Rastafari in 2000. He also worked as an engineer for Sean Paul, Shaggy, and Beres Hammond.

Barry O’Hare recorded and produced Tanya Stephens’ first album, and worked with the likes of Sade, Diana King, Yami Bolo, Jack Radics, Prezident Brown, Mikey Spice, and countless others.

In 2018, he was recognized by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) for his contribution to the growth and development of reggae music.
