Voting for NAACP Image Awards ends

Public voting for the nominees in the NAACP Image Awards, one of the most iconic annual celebrations of Black excellence closed today, Friday, March 5.

Reggae and Dancehall entertainers Buju Banton, Koffee, and Skip Marley are nominated for the upcoming 52nd NAACP Image Awards.

Both Koffee and Buju Banton scored double nominations in the Outstanding International Song category. Koffee, who is nominated for ‘Lockdown,’ secured a second nod for the remix of ‘Pressure’ featuring Buju Banton. Like Koffee, Buju also received an independent nomination for ‘Blessed’ from his Grammy-nominated album, ‘Upside Down 2020.’

Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage also scored a double nomination in the Outstanding International Song Category with ‘Temptation,’ and Tanana’, a collaborative effort with Davido.

Meanwhile, Skip Marley has received a nomination in the Outstanding New Artiste category for ‘Higher Place’.

In a post on Twitter, Skip’s mom, Cedella Marley, used the social media platform to remind the public to vote for her son.

The annual NAACP Image Awards show is slated to take place on March 27, and will air on BET.

The NAACP Image Awards, presented by the U.S. based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, honours outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature.
