Vybz Kartel’s legal team has expressed disappointment following the revelation Friday morning that the dancehall deejay lost his appeal.

Senior attorney, Valerie Neita Robertson says the verdict is disappointing but not surprising. She adds that they are, however, still confident that they will succeed.

In July 2018, attorneys representing Vybz Kartel, Shawn Storm, and their co-convicts, appeared before the Court of Appeal, seeking to overturn their convictions and sentences.

After more than a year of waiting, the Court of Appeal handed down the judgment via teleconferencing this morning.

The Appeals of the men against their respective convictions are all dismissed and the convictions affirmed.

The decision in respect of the sentencing is further reserved pending the receipt from counsel, within seven days concerning the time spent on remand, by each of the appellants before being sentenced. The court will render its decision on sentencing in writing within 14-days of receipt of that notice.

Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm along with two other men were found guilty of the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, and are all serving life sentences since 2014.
