The police and Ministry of National Security have launched probes into an incident at the Richmond Farm correctional facility in St. Mary earlier today.
Minister without Portfolio Matthew Samuda said based on preliminary reports, about 11:20 a.m. correctional officers were in the process of conducting a routine search, when an inmate was discovered with a cellular phone.
Mr. Samuda said attempts to retrieve the phone led to an altercation.
This resulted in 3 correctional officers and the inmate being injured.
They were taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital for treatment and based on medical reports the injuries are not life-threatening.
