West Indies suffer humiliating 240 run loss inside four days to New Zealand

West Indies cricketers suffered a humiliating 240 run loss inside four days to New Zealand who wrapped up a 2 nil series sweep in Hamilton today.

Resuming the day on 30 for 2 and in search of an unlikely victory target of 444 the West Indies were blown away for 203.

Neil Wagner starred with the ball bagging 3 for 42 while there were two wickets each for Tim Southee, Trent Boult, and Mitchel Santner.

Roston chase was the only standout for the Caribbean men top- scoring with 64.

He had shared in a 78 run 6th wicket partnership with Raymond Reifer who made 29.

Kemar Roach weighed in with 32 while stand in captain Kraig Brathwaite who had returned on his overnight 15 was dismissed for 20 and Shai Hope who came back on one went on to score 23.

Final scores New Zealand 373 and 291 for 8 declared the West Indies 221 and 203.

Captain Kraig Brathwaite accepts that his team failed again, but highlighted some positives in the loss, while captain Kane Williamson was grateful to the West Indies for what he explained was a well-played series.

The teams will now turn their attention to the three match one day international series starting on December 20.
