West Indies women’s cricketers suffers 8-wickets defeat to south Africa

The West Indies women’s cricketers yesterday crashed to an 8-wickets defeat in the 4th and penultimate match of the T/20 international series against South Africa at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.

A result that sees them needing to avoid defeat in tomorrow’s final match to win the series.

After losing the toss and being inserted to take first strike, the ‘Windies women were restricted to just 135 for 3 from their 20 overs.

Natasha McLean was the top batter with an unbeaten 57 while Deandra Dottin….28 and skipper Stafanie Taylor….26, were also among the runs.

The South Africans in their reply cruised to 136 for 2 thanks to half century knocks of 54 apiece by openers Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt.

Taylor and Afy Fletcher who ended with one each, were the lone Windies wicket takers.

Final scores: West Indies women 135 for 3, South Africa women 136 for 2.

The 5th and final match takes place tomorrow also at the Brian Lara cricket academy in Trinidad.
